“I feel incredibly privileged to be the Headteacher of our wonderful school. Having grown up locally in Gloucester, I have known of Rednock School for many years — and even locked horns with them from time to time on the rugby field!

I am passionate about making our school the very best it can be for our community. I believe every child is unique, with their own talents, passions and ambitions, and it is our role as educators to unlock those strengths, unleash their potential, help them find their voice and enable them to discover their place in our community.

Since joining the school, I have felt incredibly welcomed, and our ethos that ‘everyone matters’ is something I see being lived every day.

I originally qualified as a PE teacher and have always loved sport. Throughout my career, I have led curriculum departments, been a Head of Year and Head of a large sixth form, before becoming an Assistant Headteacher and then Deputy Headteacher at the largest school in Gloucestershire. I have also completed my NPQH qualification.

But, above all of this, what I love most is working with people. It is the relationships, the sense of community and the excitement of seeing young people thrive that makes me love my job.“

“I’ve worked in education for 29 years, starting my career as a History teacher after completing my degree and teaching qualification. Since then, I’ve taken on a number of pastoral and leadership roles and joined Rednock School in 2019. I also hold a  NPQSL and a NPQH.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and getting out for walks with my dog Harper.  I am an avid reader and my favourite genre is crime novels. I can often be found watching  rugby at the weekend with my daughters if I am not stood on a football touchline to watch one of them play.

My role in school means that I’m responsible for supporting the wellbeing, behaviour and personal development of students across the school. I work closely with our Community Leaders, tutors and safeguarding team to make sure students feel safe, supported and ready to learn. I’m also involved in supporting students and families when they are facing challenges and helping to put the right support in place. school is about partnership  enrichment too

From the first day I stepped into Rednock school I have loved the way it made me feel.  I love working with the staff and the students and enjoy that no day is ever the same For me, one of the best parts of my role is getting to know our students and helping them to feel that they belong at Rednock.  I am always looking for new ways to make the days at Rednock even betterol for many years — and even locked horns with them from time to time on the rugby field!

“I’ve worked in education for 30 years, finding my way into teaching through outdoor education instruction and youth work, which complement my degree in Geography. Since joining Rednock, I’ve taken on a range of roles, including Head of Geography and a variety of leadership responsibilities focused on teaching and learning and the development of colleagues.

My current role is Assistant Headteacher responsible for staff experience, with a focus on teaching and learning, professional development and staff wellbeing. I work closely with our Curriculum Team and colleagues across the school, supporting teachers and staff at every stage of their careers.

I work as a Lead Mentor with GITEP SCITT, supporting the training and development of new teachers across the local area. I find this particularly rewarding and enjoy the opportunity to work with others, see other schools, share ideas and support colleagues as they develop their practice and careers.

Outside of school, family time is important to me, but I remain passionate about the outdoors and being active. Cycling is a particular favourite, from racing through to taking on longer challenges.“

I have worked in education for over 25 years across three different schools and have been part of the Rednock community since 2012. Before joining Rednock, I taught at another school in Gloucestershire and one in inner-city Bristol. These experiences gave me the opportunity to work with a wide range of students and school communities and helped shape my approach to education.

Throughout my teaching career, I have mainly taught History, alongside holding a variety of roles including pastoral and departmental leadership, as well as a number of positions focused on supporting school-wide teaching and learning.

In my current role at Rednock, I am an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Teaching and Learning. My role is focused on ensuring that all students experience high-quality teaching that enables them to succeed, develop as confident and independent learners and make good progress. I work closely with teachers and leaders across the school to develop teaching practice and ensure that our approach to teaching and learning meets the needs of all our students and helps to remove barriers to learning.

Outside of school, I have two children of my own who are currently in Year 10 and Year 12 at a local school. This means I have plenty of first-hand experience of the challenges of parenting teenagers, including navigating the pressures of exams and finding the right balance between school and life outside the classroom. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exploring new places and making the most of opportunities to travel and discover new experiences. I also enjoy finding time to relax, whether that’s with a good book or simply catching up with friends.

One of the things I particularly enjoy about my role is seeing the positive impact that great teaching can have on students. I value being part of a school community where staff work together to help every student develop their confidence, achieve their potential and become successful, independent learners. Although I now spend less time in the classroom than I used to, I still love getting into the classroom to teach History. I particularly enjoy helping young people to develop their confidence and skills, while sharing knowledge and ideas that spark their curiosity and interest in the past.

I have enjoyed a long and varied career, starting in sales and marketing where I launched several dot-com businesses during the early days of the mainstream internet. This background led to some incredible opportunities, including managing company divestments for Mercedes-Benz, introducing the Smart Car to the UK, and rolling out the digital presence for Car magazine.

Driven by a long-held passion for education, I retrained as a science teacher in 2006. As a self-confessed science geek, sharing that enthusiasm with so many students was incredibly rewarding. I joined the Rednock School Senior Leadership Team in 2013 as Assistant Headteacher—managing data, exams, and timetabling—before moving into my current role as School Business Manager. Today, I blend my commercial background with my love for the school to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible.

I am a firm believer in lifelong learning; though my own school days featured O and S levels, I recently completed my NPQH and a Level 7 Apprenticeship in School Leadership.

Outside of work, I stay active through running and cycling, and I am a lifelong Wolverhampton Wanderers fan and season ticket holder—which means I am occasionally a bit grumpy on Monday mornings!
