Sixth Form Life

Beyond the curriculum

Opportunities that help students to develop as a whole person beyond subject courses

Enrichment at Rednock Sixth Form is a key part of the Sixth Form experience. Our aim is to ensure that every student has a programme of study and a range of experiences that prepares them for adult life, employment and university. It also gives students the opportunity to contribute to the wider community by taking on leadership roles and in supporting students within the school.

Academic Enrichment

In Year 12 students are encouraged to take one of the following additional courses:

Personal Enrichment

Wednesday afternoons are given over to Enrichment and we have a range of activities that students can choose from. Each activity is run by a specialist :

  • Art
  • Music
  • STEM club
  • Sports
  • Gold DofE
  • Book Club
  • Cooking
  • Leadership and Coaching – Gloucester Rugby Club

We know that whatever our students go on to when they leave Rednock Sixth Form, they will need to be able to demonstrate their skills, qualities and attributes beyond their subject grades and qualifications. We support and encourage students to take up additional personal development activities including:

  • Volunteering in and outside of school.
  • Leadership roles on Sixth form Council and Whole School Council.
  • Mental Health First Aid England training to support and mentor younger students.

Supporting students  to fulfill their potential

We have a team of experienced tutors who carry out daily registration and ‘check-in’, keeping students on track with attendance, in managing their  time effectively and in supporting their wellbeing.

We supervised study areas and our Sixth Form Study Supervisor is available for individual and group work during students’ study periods.

Lifeskills/PSHE

A time tabled session once a fortnight.

Meet the team…

We have a wonderful team dedicated to the success and well being of our Sixth Form Students.

Mrs Barker – Head of Sixth Form and Assistant Head Teacher
Ms Hobdell – Deputy Head of Sixth Form
Mrs Johnston – Deputy Head of Sixth Form
Mrs Clune – Study Supervisor
Mrs Traynor – Administrator

The student committee…

The Sixth Form Committee aims to work with students and staff to create exciting opportunities throughout the school year. We aim to organise a range of stimulating and enjoyable events, which benefit students, teachers, the Sixth Form and local charities. Being on the committee allows students to make the Sixth Form a better place to learn and socialise. The committee consists of twelve members selected by the previous group of Sixth Formers.

This team is then split into three sections; Social, Charity and Publicity. The social committee are responsible for arranging events, such as, the annual winter and summer balls, the charity members are delegated the task of planning fundraising events like the Christmas Fair and the publicity group is in charge of promoting Rednock Sixth Form and all of its events.

Together we make Rednock Sixth Form welcoming, diverse and constantly improving.
